"Well, this is how it works behind the scenes... In medical school, it is constantly drilled into us to 'Diagnose and rush to treatment!’ It doesn't matter what the condition is. 'Identify and rush to treatment!' We are so heavily programmed along those lines that there seems to be no other possibility. Not for the doctor...not for the patient. There is no discussion, no middle ground, no common sense."

In the used car industry, it's called hardball selling.

So much easier to "make the sale" while the patient is overcome by emotions, with their cerebral cortex fully disengaged.

great handle! Exactly right! I've heard some horrific stories of bullying and the techniques they employ. Haven't written them up yet, but they have to be told... Just a quick note: when a family decision has to be made, the doctor and nurse single out the smallest and most vulnerable...usually a kind woman. They take her to a private room and TOWER over her menacingly, often lying and threatening her with elder abuse if she doesn't cave to their wishes, which are always centered on maximizing the profit in that situation. Further the nurse knows she will lose her job if she doesn't play along. Just incredible stuff... Thanks for making that point!!!
